General Information
Where exactly is the Streklhof located?
About four kilometers south of downtown Velden and Lake Wörthersee—in a particularly quiet, secluded location at an elevation of 540 meters. Surrounded by meadows and forests, with unobstructed views of the Carinthian mountains. The view alone is enough to bring peace of mind. By the way: the Keutschach Lake Cycle Path runs right past the house.
Can you see Lake Wörthersee from the Streklhof?
Unfortunately, we can’t offer a view of the lake. But here, you’ll enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and the Rosental valley. This unique view is just as beautiful—if not more so. And it’s not just us saying that…
How long has the Streklhof been around?
The property, which was originally a farm, has been in existence for more than 300 years—in 1955, Hans and Gertraud Tschernitz began renting out rooms. Their daughter Marlies and her husband Andreas have taken over this life’s work and continue to run it with great respect for its history.
How many rooms does the Streklhof have?

How many employees does the Streklhof have?
The Streklhof employs 23 incredibly valuable individuals—many of whom have been with us for several years. They’ve practically become part of the family.
Is the hotel open year-round?
We are open year-round for seminars. For individual travelers, we are open from April through November and during the Christmas holidays.
Are dogs allowed?
Since we are dog lovers ourselves, well-behaved dogs are welcome in select rooms, subject to availability. However, this is always upon request, as we can only accommodate a limited number of dogs at a time.
We ask for your understanding that your four-legged friend is not permitted in the restaurant or wellness area. They are welcome to accompany you on a leash on the lawn in the garden. Bringing your dog to meals is possible upon request. We have provided cozy tables in the bar area and in the garden for this purpose.
Are there charging stations for cars and e-bikes?
There are three charging stations for cars, each with a capacity of 22 kWh. At check-in, you will receive a charging card with a number. At the end of your stay, this number can be used to read the amount of kWh charged. The price is 55 cents per kWh.
For e-bikes, there are 30 free charging points in the bike garage.
Where can you store bicycles?
There is a 90 square meters bike garage with 30 charging stations for e-bikes. The garage is also equipped with video surveillance.
How far is the nearest train station? Is there public transportation to the hotel?
The nearest train station is in Velden am Wörthersee—4 km from the Streklhof. There is no public transportation available. Are you planning to travel by train?
If so, we’d be happy to pick you up from the train station in Velden at no charge.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept Mastercard, Visa, debit cards, and cash; you are also welcome to make a down payment via bank transfer.
What are the parking options?
There is a large free parking lot right next to the hotel.
Is there Wi-Fi throughout the house?
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and in all rooms.
Is it possible to stay there without any accessibility barriers?
The Streklhof is a historic building, so stairs are unavoidable in some areas. However, many areas are wheelchair-accessible. We do not have any rooms that are fully wheelchair-accessible. We would be happy to provide you with detailed advice in person.
Is there a workspace in the hotel where you can work undisturbed?
There is a dedicated workation area on the 2nd floor of the main building. There are also two seminar rooms for workshops.
What are the cancellation policies?
Free cancellation up to 1 month before arrival.
Starting 4 weeks before arrival, 90% of the accommodation costs will be charged.
We recommend purchasing travel insurance - for example Hotel Cancellation Plus - which covers cancellation, additional costs due to late arrival or an involuntary extension of your stay, trip interruption, as well as search and rescue costs. A link to travel insurance is also included with every booking confirmation.
Should something unexpected happen, everyone is happy when precautions have been taken. Please note that we accept cancellations exclusively in writing and that they are only binding upon our written confirmation. The terms of the Austrian Hotel Regulations apply, unless other conditions are specified here.
In the event of cancellations, we strive to find good solutions. However, we ask for your understanding that, in the interest of fairness, we do not offer last-minute, free rebookings or cancellations for guests who have not purchased cancellation insurance.
Where am I allowed to smoke?
The Streklhof is a non-smoking hotel. Smoking is therefore only permitted outdoors. You are welcome to enjoy a cigarette on the terrace, on the lawn, or on the balcony.
What are the reception hours?
The front desk is staffed until 9:00 p.m. However, our hotel bar is usually open much later. If you have any questions, please ask the bar manager.

Check-in / Check-out
When can I move into the room?
Rooms are ready for check-in by 3:00 p.m. at the latest. If you arrive in the morning, we invite you to enjoy our delicious breakfast while we make every effort to have your room cleaned as soon as the previous guest has checked out.
Is it possible to arrive late?
If you plan to arrive after 6 p.m., please let us know in advance.
How long can I stay in my room on the day of departure?
We kindly ask that you vacate your rooms by 11 a.m. If your room has not been booked for another guest, late check-out may be possible. Our reception staff will be happy to provide you with more information the evening before your departure.
Can I leave my luggage at the hotel after check-out?
You are more than welcome to leave your luggage at the front desk.
Living at Streklhof
How many rooms does the Streklhof have?
Luckily, we're small - only 40 rooms - which makes everything feel much more intimate and relaxed ;)
How many room categories are there?
The Streklhof offers 9 different room categories—ranging from the small "Morgensonne" double room, which is also popular for single occupancy, to various double room categories and three different family rooms with separate bedrooms.
Do all the rooms have a balcony?
Only the three "Morgensonne" double rooms do not have a balcony; all other rooms do.
Are there minibars in the rooms?
All of our rooms, except for the Morgensonne double room, are equipped with a minibar.
Do the rooms have air conditioning?
Our house is not equipped with air conditioning. However, you’ll sleep wonderfully with the balcony door open. Far away from any roads, the concept of a good night’s sleep takes on a whole new meaning. You’ll see for yourself…
Are there hair dryers and safes in the rooms?
All rooms are equipped with a hair dryer and a safe.
Does the hotel offer hypoallergenic bedding or hypoallergenic rooms?
We are happy to provide hypoallergenic bedding. It’s best to let us know when you book so that our housekeeping staff can prepare everything according to your preferences. We also offer rooms with hardwood floors in all categories.
Is there a parking lot?
Right next to the hotel grounds, a spacious parking lot offers plenty of free parking spaces.
Cuisine
What does the Streklhof pampering half-board package include?
This includes a generous breakfast buffet and a five-course dinner menu.
Is there a chance to grab a bite to eat during the day?
From 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., we serve light bites from our à la carte snack menu (not included in the price).
What about food intolerances?
Guests with dietary restrictions can also enjoy their stay to the fullest. Please let us know your preferences when you book, and our kitchen team will tailor the menus to your needs.
What do the children eat?
We’d be happy to serve the same as the adults. We think it’s great when kids explore the 5-course menu and try new flavors. After all, healthy food can be super delicious, too. Of course, we also offer classics like schnitzel and pasta. At the end of the day, eating should be fun ;)
Is there anything available during the day for a quick bite?
Yes, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, you can choose from our à la carte snack menu—ranging from healthy to hearty.
Can external guests also take advantage of the dining options?
Yes, we’d be delighted to—but due to the limited number of tables, reservations are required. Breakfast is available for €25 per person. In the afternoon, we invite you to enjoy items from our snack menu in the garden. In the evening, we serve a 5-course meal. Prices vary depending on the menu.
Can my dog come to dinner?
We are more than happy to welcome well-behaved dogs. We have set up comfortable tables in the bar area and in the garden for this purpose. However, we generally only allow a limited number of dogs at a time, as well as a limited number of tables. Therefore, we ask that you indicate this request when making your reservation.
Wellness
How many saunas are there at the Streklhof?
We have three saunas: a Finnish sauna, a saltwater herbal steam bath, and a warming infrared cabin.
When are the saunas at the Wellness-Stadl open?
During the summer season from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.,
in the winter from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
and on rainy days, right after breakfast.
How many pools are there at Streklhof, what are their temperatures, and when are they open?
Indoor pool – 31°C – from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Heated outdoor pool – 28°C to 30°C – from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
(April through October).
How big is the wellness area at the Streklhof?
Wellness Barn with 3 saunas, 2 relaxation rooms, a massage room, and a tea and juice bar: 280 m²
Indoor pool: 120 m²
“Freiraum” yoga room: 110 m²
Garden with outdoor pool: 5,000 m²
Do you offer massages or wellness treatments?
Yes, you can find these under Massages.
We do not currently offer cosmetic treatments, pedicures, or manicures.
Do you offer yoga classes here?
Oh yes—in our new yoga studio, “Freiraum,” or right among our alpacas. We usually offer 2–3 open yoga classes per week. Participation is free. The sessions last about 1 hour and are suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. You can sign up on-site. Yoga mats are provided for you in the studio.
Are bathrobes and bath towels provided during the stay?
You will find a loaner bath bag with bathrobes in your room. Bath towels are available at the indoor pool and wellness center.
We would like to minimize the use of disposable flip-flops as much as possible. Please bring your own.
At what age are children allowed in the wellness area?
The indoor and outdoor pool is open to people of all ages.
The Wellness Barn is a nude area and a place of tranquility—children 13 and older are permitted here.
Can I still use the spa facilities on the day of arrival and departure?
You are welcome to use the wellness area before your official check-in time.
On the day of departure, we ask that you vacate your rooms by 11 a.m. After that, you are welcome to relax in the spa for the rest of the day—for an additional fee of €15 per person.
Use is subject to the official opening hours of the respective areas.

How busy are the hiking and walking trails around the Streklhof?
We are very fortunate here. There are no crowds of people; quite the opposite, in fact. It’s not uncommon to find yourself walking through the woods all by yourself. Haunted by the silence, so to speak. We do not offer guided hikes.
What about bike lanes?
The Keutschach Lake Cycle Path runs right past the hotel—from there, you can access other bike paths in the region. You can store your bikes in the bike garage and charge them for free if needed. More information about the bike paths
Do you offer yoga classes here?

What is the Wörthersee Plus Card?
Every guest receives this card at check-in. This guest card, so to speak, offers over 150 included services and benefits. The greatest value lies in free admission, discounts of up to 50%, and guided tours. Typical highlights include boat tours, the Pyramidenkogel, Mussen, and the beaches around Lake Wörthersee.
How far away is the nearest beach on Lake Wörthersee?
The beautiful Schiefling Beach on Lake Wörthersee is just 3.2 kilometers away. With the Wörthersee Plus Card, you get free admission. Free swimming spots are very rare on Lake Wörthersee.
Where are the nearest golf courses in the area?
Golf enthusiasts will find several attractive golf courses in the area. The Velden Köstenberg Golf Club is just a few minutes away. The Moosburg Golf Club and Dellach are also just a short drive away. We would be happy to reserve your preferred tee time in advance.
